The Japan Centre is a striking office skyscraper located in the heart of Frankfurt's banking district, which was constructed in 1996 according to the designs of architect Joachim Ganz.

The project

A comprehensive renovation of the skyscraper took place in 2006, followed by a complex restructuring (revitalization) and technical modernization from 2016 to 2017.

The building has a height of 115 meters, spread across 28 upper and four lower floors, of which three are dedicated to the building's own underground parking.

Particularly challenging for the construction logistics was that the remodeling work took place during ongoing operations. The office operations were not to be disturbed by the work. This also applied to access routes, elevators, and emergency exits. Neither building materials nor waste could be temporarily stored and had to be delivered just-in-time directly to the site of processing or disposed of from there.

Due to the downtown location and the building operations, only limited delivery and storage areas were available during the construction measure, which could also only be used for a limited time.

BCL was responsible for the planning and execution of construction logistics.
